We are a group of people that have found some extra time on our hands. Most of us have been laid off and are having a tough time finding a job in this awful economy. We are using a small portion of that time to make our entire community a better place. We are willing to help out anyone in need using our experience and skills. We donate time, energy, equipment and services to anyone less fortunate. We realize that every single one of us has something to offer. Every person on Earth has a skill or some experience that can help someone else. In these dark times, we need to stand together, act together and help one another in our greatest time of need.
Please see our mission statement below.
This wonderful group donated money to us so that we could complete various projects. Please check them out!
Our Mission Statement
We’ve Got Time to Help’s mission is to serve the entire community, no matter their race, sex, color, creed, sexual orientation, political affiliation, age or economic status. We support our neighbors through multi-faceted contributions to communities, none too big or too small, and strive to assist those in need with respect, compassion, caring and understanding. We want to encourage the people of Portland, OR and surrounding communities to truly make a difference in the lives of others through dedication and commitment to volunteer efforts and to bring a sense of community back to our neighborhoods.
Our Philosophy
“Helping bring a sense of community back to our neighborhoods since 2009.”
We are a group of people who have been affected by the current economic times. Downsized, laid off, reduced work hours or just plain unable to find employment.
While we are still trying to find steady employment we realized we had time and skills that could benefit others in their time of need and, in the process, feel better about ourselves. After knocking on countless doors, sending out innumerable resumes and contacting thousands of people our personal self worth started sliding. Instead of letting it get to us we decided to help ourselves by helping others. Every single person in this country has some skill or knowledge that would help others in need. This site is dedicated to helping others and in the process helping ourselves.
With an estimated 500,000+ people unemployed in Oregon alone and very few jobs available we end up with time on our hands. If even 1% of the current un/underemployed people volunteered their time for an hour a week that is 5000 hours helping others in need. 5000 hours! Can you even imagine the good that could be done with that? How many lives could be changed for the better? Incredible.
